When to spay or neuter?

The right time to Spay and Neuter your pet

All pet parents should know when to spay or neuter. The best time Spay and Neuter for males and females is between 4 – 5 months. For females you want to make sure that they are spayed before the first heat cycle. Spaying is important because it can prevent pyometra (an infection in the uterus) and prevent breast cancer from happening. When the first heat cycle is missed, Spaying can still be done but it will be a move invasive surgery, so if they go out of the season, you can wait for the next one. Males are different as they can go from 4 – 6 months and would depend if their manhood have dropped or not. Once the testicles have dropped they could go in and they can be neutered. These also apply for female cats, it is important that they get spayed before their first heat cycle. And female cats are always in heat 3-4 days every 3 weeks. Male cats, same with male dogs, we need to wait for the testicles to drop.
