Dr. Alonso Bayon
Dr. Alonso Bayon earned his veterinary degree from the University of Baja California in 1998. He later obtained his veterinary license in the United States after completing the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification program through the University of California, Davis and Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following certification, Dr. Bayon dedicated his career to small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery.
After several years in general practice, he transitioned to full-time emergency medicine, working in multiple emergency animal hospitals where he further developed his expertise in critical care and emergency surgical procedures. During his time in emergency practice, Dr. Bayon also mentored third- and fourth-year veterinary students from Western University College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as an evaluator during their clinical rotations.
He enjoys helping young veterinarians refine their clinical and surgical skills and supporting their development in the profession.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bayon has found the most rewarding aspects of veterinary medicine to be providing compassionate, high-quality patient care and helping pet owners navigate challenging medical and surgical situations with understanding and support.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Bayon enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, including surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, cycling, backpacking, mountaineering, snorkelling, and scuba diving. He also cherishes spending time with his wife, his adult children, and their two cats.
